Abstract

The aims of this research to formulate and evaluate a polyherbal gel having Azadirachta indica, Ocimumsanctum and Aloe Vera extract. The formulation was considered by using ethanoic and aqueous extract of Azadirachta indica, Ocimumsanctum and Aloe Vera leaves in different concentrations. The extracts were subjected to various physicochemical evaluations and qualitative phytochemical evaluation. The gel was prepared by using a gelling agent- Carbopol 934 of concentration 1%, 1.5%, 2%, 2.5% and 3%. The polyherbal formulation was investigated for its antifungal action and it was investigatedthat the polyherbal formulation have prompted antifungal action. Which was comparable with ketoconazole standard drug. However, the action was found to be due to the herbal drugs. The polyherbal formulation shows a topical gel for fungal infections of the skin. The antifungal action test of Azadirachta indica, Ocimumsanctum and Aloe Vera using agar well diffusion method was performed. Test parameters for topical gel includes pH, extrudability, and spreadability, diffusion, and stability test. The results of this study presented that Azadirachta indica, Ocimumsanctum and Aloe Vera extracts had antifungal activity. Antifungal activity in combination of Azadirachta indica, Ocimumsanctum and Aloe Vera leaves extract is synergistic. For the formulation of gel, the concentration chosen is 1:1:1in ratio.
