The Importance of developing health information management workforce with respect to e- health adoption in India

At the regional, provincial, and national levels, healthcare in India is going through a tremendous transformation and transition in order to more efficiently use the limited health resources available and deliver safe, high-quality treatment at a reduced cost. A new breakthrough and enabler for lowering healthcare costs and enhancing patient care is the electronic health record (EHR). The benefits of the EHR have been covered extensively in studies and papers, but the financial and human resources required to deploy and operate the EHR have received less attention. To satisfy the demands of a more and more digital workroom, health information management (HIM) professionals' roles must alter as Indian healthcare facilities transition from paper to electronic health records and adoption of other e-health technologies by the consumers.
