Abstract

Azadirachta Indica A.Juss also known as neem plant is one of the most widely known medicinal plants in India and other Asian countries that has been used since ancient times for many medicinal purposes. Neem is a very important medicinal plant used to treat various ailments in the Unani System of Medicine and the traditional medicine system. Some of these chemical compounds are Nimbidin, Nimbin, Nimbolide, Azadirachtin, Cyclic trisulphide and others such as antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antigastric ulcer, antiarthritic, spermicidal antifungal, antimalarial, hypoglycaemic, immunomodulum and immunomodulatory. It is also used as an analgesic, an alternative to treating colds and urinary tract infections. In addition, it is used in the treatment of coughs, asthma, tumors, diabetes, blood diseases, biliary diseases and many other medicinal properties. The current work provides comprehensive information on the value of traditional and chemical component ofAzadirachta Indica to assess therapeutic potential, highlighting the relationship between the value of traditional use and chemical components and future scientific research opportunities inAzadirachta Indica.
