Abstract

This study sought to understand these attributes’ pharmaceutical implications, as well as recommend some of the solutions through which pharmacists could address the perceived errors. From the findings, major aspects or causes of medication errors were found to include a lack of knowledge, resource constraints and availability, work hours, the nature of the work environment, and the role of experience. Others included policy violation, information availability and use, the attributes of documentation and similarity, and performance deficit among members of the team. Hence, some of the strategies recommended for pharmaceutical retail industry managers include education and training, improved work environment, effective communication, monitoring staff, embracing technology, and medication error reporting.
