Abstract

Treatment of patients with malignant pleural effusion does not claim to be radical and is only a palliative or symptomatic care for patients with a generalized tumor process. Currently, there are a lot of proposed methods of treatment, none of which can be unconditionally recommended for the treatment of this group of patients. Often the choice of treatment method in this group of patients is based on the tendencies of the clinic where the patient is being treated, on the personal preferences and experience of the doctor. To date, specific criteria for indications for a particular treatment method, used drugs, dosage and mode of administration, methods of drainage and operations have not been developed.
