Safe Post-Harvest Application Tools to Reduce Pomegranate Fruit Rot Diseases

Abstract

Treatment of pomegranate fruits cv. "Manfaloty" by carnation oil at the rate of 1%, cinnamon oil plus wax and carnation oil plus wax significantly decreased fruit rot development when compared with the control. Also, the treatment with potassium sorbate and potassium thiosulfate at the rate of 4000 ppm were more effective in this concern. The same trend was obtained using storage under modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) at 7°C.
